In the history of ILAUD the workshops have always performed a crucial function of research and training.

There are a series of on-site workshops planned. The first one already took place in Shanghai in 2019, whereas another four will be organized in Delhi, Rio de Janeiro, Addis Ababa and Milan in 2020-2021 – COVID 19 pandemic permitting.
ILAUD workshops activity will examine problems originated by current transformations taking place in the human habitat. The focus will be on changes of the built environment to increase its resilience; the development of new types of daily-life and work organization; the demand for new community, health care and educational services; the design and implementation of new transport systems; urban agriculture and the greening of urban fabrics; but also the fight against increasing inequalities and new forms of social segregation. And finally, the development of advanced digital tools (DT, IoT, AR) and the use of AI for the forecasting and management of urban processes.

In addition to the on-site workshops ILAUD, as part of the Online Activities, is organizing a series of online Workshops. The online workshops aim to keep the ILAUD community continuously connected, even when not physically together.

The possibility of establishing Permanent Workshops Labs in each of the planned workshop location is also in progress.
